Okay, I'm actually doing this
I've actually had this idea for years. It started with something really simple. I wanted to remember the cannabis strains I'd tried. At some point I had a list in my Notes app, which worked, I guess. Until it didn't.
And I've always liked the idea of having something like a Pokédex for this. I grew up playing Pokémon, and one of the things I always loved was opening the Pokédex and looking at everything I'd discovered. All those little entries, the ones you'd already found, and especially the ones you hadn't.
And one of the things I loved about it was that it wasn't just a database you opened to look something up. It was an actual instrument inside a much bigger world. You carried it around while exploring, discovering new places, meeting characters and encountering things you'd never seen before.
I didn't want to just copy the look of a Pokédex. I wanted to capture a little bit of that feeling.
I like the idea of having this little world you can escape into, without it constantly telling you what you should be doing next.
So one evening I grabbed my laptop and started writing. I think it was around 10 at night. And before I knew it, it was seven or eight in the morning and I was still going.
I'm also documenting development as I go. Not because I have all the answers, but because I think the decisions, the experiments, and the things that don't work out are just as interesting as the finished result.
For now, I'm just really happy that something I've had in my head for so long is finally becoming real. And I'm having a lot of fun making it.
